#72 Zaragosa / Bajo Cauca / Antioquia

"We did a blind war for more than 60 years. Now we want a peace buildt with maps: know our (the) territory to rebuild it."

As we know, one of the problems of land holding in the country is related to the lack of information about the territory, especially in rural areas. Some of these areas are 20 years belated in land cadastre and the information that the state has, it’s information of difficult access for the people. For that reason, we want to invite the OpenStreetMap’s community to help us to make the basis map of the following municipalities: Nechí, Tarazá, Caucasia, Valdivia, El Bagre, Caceres and Zaragosa. Municipalities of Antioquia’s Low Cauca where armed conflict, illegal mining, planting illicit crops and other problems associated with war have left countless victims and social problems. As part of the XIII anniversaries of OpenStreetMap we invite you to contribute to the peace of Colombia through the maps.

#65 Irregular settlements Ciudad del Carmen | AniversarioXIII OSM #Carmen #Mexico #OSMcumple13

On the occasion of the XIII anniversary of OpenStreetMap in August 2017, as a joint action of OSMColombia, GeoChicas and several communities in the region, a massive Mapathon is organized among the Latin American countries of this community and where partner organizations are present. In recent years, several zones of the island of Carmen have received irregular settlements exposed to climatic and geographical conditions of risk and that in turn generate an environmental pressure in a protected wetland area (RAMSAR), such as it is mentioned by the Urban Improvement Plan for the Caleta Stream Area, which targets the rescue and preservation of water bodies and mangroves.

About the Tasking Manager

OSM Tasking Manager is a mapping tool designed and built for the Humanitarian OSM Team collaborative mapping. The purpose of the tool is to divide up a mapping job into smaller tasks that can be completed rapidly. It shows which areas need to be mapped and which areas need the mapping validated.

This approach facilitates the distribution of tasks to the various mappers in a context of emergency. It also permits control of the progress and the homogeneity of the work done (e.g. elements to cover, specific tags to use, etc.).

New to Mapping?

Just jump over to OpenStreetMap, create an account, and then visit the LearnOSM tutorials on the Tasking Manager and the iD editor. Alternatively check out the MapGive website which also provides information on the Tasking Manager and mapping. Once you have read up on how to map, come back here to help map for people on the ground!
